Service Description: This dataset includes only selected vegetative and non-vegetative organisms that are considered to be aquatic nuisance species. This list is not exhaustive and contains data for only a limited number of species. Some organisms may be foreign to United States waters while some may be foreign to a particular water body or region, but native to the United States.
The data includes GPS coordinates and other species information collected by and stored in the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species (NAS) information resource at United States Geological Survey. Data points are for informational use only and may contain inaccuracies. Data has been published by USGS on the NAS website at: http://nas.er.usgs.gov/. A limited number of species are identified in the dataset and is not conclusive. Any questions concerning data or information on species, should be directed to the USGS NAS information resource page. For recreational boating related questions, please contact the agency responsible for administering clean boating programs in your state. For a list of some contacts, visit the resources tab at www.epa.gov/cleanboatingact.
